As is the tradition of this team each year they proceeded to present the washing of the family's feet. Steve shared a few words on how this was done in Jesus' day and how this is a humbling act of service for our Lord and Savior. Jesus washed his disciples feet so in turn on this very special day for Amailia and her children, Damian, Carmen and Lanenzo the team members gathered the family and Ms. Banca who so graciously let them use her front yard to do their work for the week. Also Damian's friend Fernando was apart of the foot washing. At first they did not take it seriously at all. It sadden me that did not understand the importance of this act of kindness, but as the washing of feet continued on down the line the more they realized this was a humbling act of Jesus. These people saw Jesus in each North American who participate in the washing of feet. Damian had a look of seriousness as he was processing what just happened to him. He was slowly processing it all. As a non believer this is an act which would be hard to understand. But also it can be so humbling and hopefully a tool to bring a lost person to Jesus Christ.
Steve presented the bible and the key to Amailia and shared how the key locks and secures the home but God's Word secures our final destination into eternity. God's Word needs to be the foundation of this home. The Word should be the key that gets them into Heaven. Once again if you are reading this today and do not have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ tomorrow may be too late. Today is all we are promised friends. So I pray today is your day to receive the greatest gift of all Jesus Christ. What a blessing to know and live my life for Jesus each and every day He brings me. I cannot imagine my life without my Lord and Savior. Please do not let this day go by without asking Jesus to be the Lord of your life.
