On our last day in Choluteca we went to visit a dear friend of ours, Meranda, 93 year old angel. Suszon is a nurse by profession. We asked her to please check Ms. Meranda's leg. We had a medical team look at her leg last year. We were doing a follow up while we had a nurse with us. Suszon dressed the wound on her leg and we all listened as Ms.Meranda talked continuously about something. Suszon commented I wish I knew what she was saying. While visiting with her, her church family came by to visit with her as well. It was precious to see her home full of laughter by two different languages. The church family left and Ms. Meranda got up moving around looking for something. We were not sure what she was up to. She continued looking and talking. We just sat back and waited to see what she was going to do. Ms. Meranda called Suszon over to her back door where there was a box. Ms. Meranda reached down into the box to pull out her only chicken and placed it in Suszon's arms. Suszon looked in amazement of what had just happen. This precious 93 year angel gave Suszon her one and only chicken. Suszon was taken back as we all were at this moment. We thanked her for her generosity in giving us her chicken. As we walked down the path back to the truck, Suszon carrying the chicken in her arms, with tears streaming down her cheeks, saying this lady gave me all she had. As I type this story I tear up again at the beauty of this day. We were truly on Holy Ground that day. We saw Jesus Christ in a 93 year old lady who lives in a one room block home with very little more. But the day continues to get better. We talked about what to do with our gift from Ms. Meranda. We took our chicken who Suszon had named Meranda to a family with seven children with very little also. God blessed four families on this day. Because I felt more blessed this day than I had in a long time. We can learn so much from our friend, Ms. Meranda. She gave all she had by faith in God that HE will provide for her. She was saying thank you to Suszon for giving her medical treatment she may have otherwise not have received. My question to all you reading this today would you give all you had to say thank you to God for what HE has done for you. God sent HIS only SON to die for our sins. What are we giving back to HIM for all HE has done for us. Thank you Ms. Meranda for showing me Jesus on this day.
Calling his disciples to him, Jesus said, "Truly I tell you, this poor widow has put more into the treasury than all the others. They all gave out of their wealth; but she, out of her poverty, put in everything - all she had to live on."
Mark 12:43-44
