Team headed back from VBS to get ready to dedicate Ms. Cristina and Santos' home. Pastor John and his wife Carol helped Ms. Cristina to the front of her new home. Pastor John and Carol go over last minute details before the dedication was to begin. Everyone gathered around Ms. Cristina as Pastor John was preparing the beginning of a very special moment for Ms. Cristina and Santos. She had been living like this for 25 years without a means of shutting her door or staying dry during rainy season. We got word by Sunday evening she was sleeping in her new home which was a blessing because it has been raining continuously this week.
Pastor John opened up with words of gratitude for letting his church family and the three friends from Oklahoma come and help her church and community build her a home. After he thanked her and Santos he opened the dedication service up with prayer. He then ask Pastor Chris to read scripture for the service. Pastor Chris chose Psalm 127:1. Pastor John asked everyone then to gather around the house to share in the prayer of dedication. Pastor Chris led in the prayer of dedication over Ms. Cristina's and Santos' new home. Afterwards Pastor John gave them their bibles and keys to their new home.
Santos led his mother to the front door of their home for her to unlock her new home. Manuel encouraged everyone to go in there with her. So the neighbors and team members followed her into her new home. She stood there and for the first time all week looked at all those people and thanked God for her new home and for their help in making her dream become a reality. Actually Santos spoke the most on the last two days than he had the entire week. What a beautiful ending to a perfect week with a lot of awesome folks, Hondurans and North Americans.
