Arriving at Our Sweet Family's Property

We arrived eager and ready to go.  Dianna who wanted to learn all she could and serve to her full potential was observing Wendy the wife and mother of the family hauling water and putting them into an old refrigerator.  Beau and Pastor John greeting the children of the family as soon as their feet hit the ground.  The genuine care and love of this team was evident as soon as we arrived at the project.  Mike and Joel discussing how we would introduce ourselves to the Rodriguez family as everyone was gathering around forming a circle of what was going to unfold to a memory Perry Creek Church will always treasure.

We would love to introduce to all reading today the Rodriguez family who consists of Joel, father and husband, Wendy, wife and mother, Daniel,  Aaron, Fernanda and Olivia who are the four children.  As Joel introduced his team members smile were forming and relationships were forming as well.  The entire family worked so hard to make these 800 blocks, 52 bags of cement, rebar, two doors and windows and a roof into a beautiful home.  Wendy worked as hard as any of the men in her family.  Dianna was humbled by the hard work during the week of these children helping build their home.  They were so excited to play a big part in the construction and their work ethics were phenomenal as the North American stood back in amazement of how hard these young men ages from 10 to 16 mixing the mortar day in and day out.  What we could learn from our brothers and sisters here in Honduras.  They took so much pride in all they were doing.  As Beau shared one evening during devotionals how selfless the Honduran people are.  Joel's devotional this evening was about not being self focused.  Only God can do anything.  Joel's thought for the day was "What might you be doing in your life to not glorify God?"  "What in my spiritual life is s not ready for God's calling?"  These are profound questions as we reflect on how the example the Hondurans set before us with their commitment to God first and then to each other.    One of the hymns we sang this evening was called "Build My Life".  We all need to build our lives to glorify God and our Honduran friends definitely set the example for all of us.  To God be the glory for this family and the team who was obedient to the calling to come serve here in Honduras this week.
