Team 109- Edgewood Baptist -Winston-Salem

This was a week full of blessings in all aspects. The last day is always so precious and emotional. You come here to serve in a village like this and the church members assist in going door to door and you build relationships over the five or so days. The Honduran people are very compassionate and caring people. They appreciate all we do for them and it shows and how hard they work beside our teams. Pastor Brom, of the Honduran church was given a bible by Shawn, the team leader and pastor. The affection of these people is very humbling. The excitement of the children over two cookies and a cup of juice each day was overwhelming. We have so much and they are so grateful for just a little. Thank you God for always teaching me daily how to be like you. The church members take the children home each Sunday in the back of this pick-up truck to keep them safe. The church is off of a main road and it could be somewhat dangerous walking down the road. They all threw up their hands and shouted Adious as they went down the highway. It was the sweetest sight I have seen in a long time. What a beautiful way to end a beautiful week with the truck full of God's children. Thank you Edgewood for blessing this community with your commitment to come and serve in Honduras. Once again to God be the glory for all things this week.

Team 109 VBS and Evangelism

Each day Team 109 got up early had their breakfast and hit the dirt paths going door to door sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ with the community of Lagero Blanco. This church family had been waiting two years for a revival in their church and with the help of Baptist Men and Jesus Christ it happened last week. The members of the church fasted and prayed the week before Team 109 arrived. As you can see there are alot children in the church. After going door to door sharing Jesus, they had 180 children and adults in the Sunday School Service. They did a skit each day and a craft. The last day was the life of Jesus and ALL 180 children and adults made salvation bracelets. The service was spirit filled. As you can see Jesus was nailed to the cross. Team 109 abilities to bring a skit to life was awesome. The young man on the stage in the red shirt walked down the aisle and had a front row seat. All the children were in awe when Jesus carried the cross down the center of the church up to the stage. They had 30 salvations this week and many rededications. The church only has 9 adults attending the church. Each night there was at least 30 plus adults in the service. So we hope after this week the community will find there way back to church. Thank you Team 109 for all the hard work preparing for VBS and making this week a huge success all in the name of Jesus Christ. To God be the glory for this entire week.

Heading to Fotbul Field

Our daughter Allsyon and her husband Aaron came down to visit and brought two soccer balls. Carlos, our translator got word of the soccer balls and suggested we get a fotbul game going after VBS. So off we head to a dirt field behind the church. We headed through a pasture over a small creek and there we were. The Honduran children gave Aaron and Carlos a run for their money. Most of the boys were bare footed. At some point the boys and girls played and of course the girls won. The Honduran lady in the black dress had way too much fun cheering for the game. Back in the states we would call her a true soccer mom. Also, there were two more guests who showed up at the soccer game, two Flat Stanelys who came all the way from Wake Forest and Raleigh. Team 109 showed awesome hospitality to all the extra friends they shared their week with. You guys are a blessing and we thank you for sharing with Allyson and Aaron as well as Flat Stanley.

Kitchen In Choluteca Upgraded

The Kitchen in Choluteca has been upgraded to include new counter tops and fresh paint on the walls. Ginger and I took Rosa to the store and let her pick out the colors since this is her kitchen. She was very excited to do this and picked out some beautiful tile. She is so proud of the new kitchen and the food seems to taste even better (if you can believe that) since it is already awesome to began with. Thanks Rosa for all you do for NCBM!!!!

Team 107 Beulah Hill Baptist - Evangelism

The Church held service every night. There was a team member who shared their testimony and another team member who shared a sermon. The Honduras churches sing praise hymns for about forty five minutes during their services. The service started out with singing, a testimony, more singing and then the sermon. We praised the Lord for four beautiful nights. There was one night Brian Sandifer was preaching about Noah and the Ark and getting on the boat to Heaven. The invitation was amazing. The majority of the congregation was at the altar rededicating or accepting Jesus Christ as their Savior. Each night was a night of revival. The Holy Spirit was at work at this church in Choluteca. Pastor Ancelmo always has a smile on his face. That is one of the first thing Pastor Brian Maness noticed about him. His smile is definitely contagious. Pastor Ancelmo's church is growing and he gives alot of his time and energy for his church family and it truly showed throughout the whole week. On Sunday morning, the final service, we arrive in front of the church and there was construction work going on. About ten members of the church were working on the front of the church. So we walk through the construction crew and headed into the church. The service started and the construction work continued. So the praise hymns started up and construction work continued. The sermon started and the construction work continued. These are the elders of the church who worked during the week to provide for their families. So Saturday and Sundays and maybe not even Saturdays are their only free days to work on the construction of the church. So as we were worshiping on the inside as they were worshiping on the outside. I looked out the door once and saw one of the elder's, Oscar drinking some water and sweating bullets. he looked at me and gave me thumbs up. We have to be careful and not judge what someone else is doing when it doesn't look right because that is when they are doing exactly what God has called them to do. And by the way those men were in church every night during the revival services. I saw this week a church who works together in all areas of the church family. We always learn a lesson from our brothers and sisters of Honduras. They are our blessings and they do not even know it. Thank you Pastor Ancelmo and church family for a wonderful week worshiping and serving the Lord.

VBS

Due to different school schedules of the children there was VBS in the morning and sometimes in the afternoon. VBS consisted of a bible story, some songs and games and a craft each day. The children enjoy VBS as much as our children back home. Heidi, Ada and Carlos helped the team alot with their translating. Heidi knew the favorite songs the children sang down here. Heidi and Carlos are translators from Honduras. Ada was a team member who was also a translator. The children enjoyed the game Simone says. They enjoyed making the sheep. Susan made over 100 sheeps and had them already in ziploc bags. They get to the church the first day to do VBS and there was 20 children there. The word had not spread yet we were there. But as always God had a different plan for those sheep. Susan was almost in tears when she saw only 20 children and she had over 100 sheep. So the next day the sheep made a trip to the public school. God is good all the time. So we may have our plans but God always has his agenda too. This was Susan's first trip to Honduras and what a blessing for her sheep to lead over 250 children to Christ. Thank you Susan for the labor of love in making the sheep and Praise the Lord for leading the team to the public school . One day the salvation braclet was given out to the children and of course they all came to church wearing their bracelets. At one VBS they were given a cross to wear around their necks. It was just so precious to see the children excited about Jesus. Glory be to God for a great week of VBS.

Sharing the Gospel in Public Schools

Team 107 had been out a couple of days evangelizing. One day they came home for lunch and said they were able to go to a public school. One of the ladies of the church encouraged them to go in and ask if they could share the gospel. This lady worked very hard beside the team that week. She saw no fear in asking the public school permission to share the gospel of Jesus Christ with a public school. So the team gets permission by the Principal and Asst. Principal. They went from classroom to classroom sharing the story of the Lost Sheep. After Marty and Heidi(translator and God sent blessing) shared the story, then Brian, Susan, Carlos ( God sent blessing)and the ladies of the church and the young man in the yellow shirt helped the children make a sheep. Each classroom was asked the question do you want Jesus in your heart. During the two days they were at the school 250 children came to know Jesus Christ because of one bold Honduran lady who wanted to go in the public school and ask if they could share the gospel of Jesus Christ. If you are reading this today and are not sure you know Jesus Christ please ask Jesus into your heart. It is the most beautiful journey you will ever take. To live and serve a mighty Savior. In the bible Jesus says well done good and faithful servants.

R&R Time

We have had a week or so without teams so it gave Ginger and I some time to rest and reflect spiritually on what we are doing in Honduras. We continue to see God's hand at work even in the smallest of things. We worked in the office to get things caught up, took vehicles to the shop to get serviced. We went to immigrations to get our visas extended. they are only good for 90 dys and our time is closely running out. We continue to work on our residency papers which may take 9 months total. We are only 3 months into the process. Made road trip to Valles de Angeles to eat some great food (see above). As we write this our next team is on their way and we will be picking them up soon.
