We arrive to a big smile from Pastor Pedro. As the team shared Pastor Pedro continues to smile when he stops smiling. Meida with the help of Pastor Brian prepared to the bulletin to present to Karen who led the service. Yes folks the bulletin was done verbally without paper. As we sat and waited on the people to travel to church Sam got up and played some contemporary music for our entertainment. What a gift Sam has. Thank you Sam for sharing your gift of music with us. The service began with a lot of music and the offering was taken up by Marlon and another sister in the church. Marlon led the offertory prayer.
We were all welcomed by Pastor Pedro with the favorite phrase "Are we content with this day?" This day is from the Lord and we should be simply content in the Lord. This is a phrase all our young people and adults left with this week. "Are we truly content today?" We were blessed as the young people accompanied by Pastor Brian got up to see "The Irish Blessing" and "Prince of Peace"
Mike got up to preach out of Matthew 13, The Good and Bad Soil. He ask us what kind of soul are we in our walk with the Lord. He challenged us to plant in the good soil. What is our heart condition? Is it a rocky path, is it a thorny path or are we walking in the good soil feeding ourselves daily with God's Word and prayers.
1 That same day Jesus went out of the house and sat by the lake.
2 Such large crowds gathered around him that he got into a boat and sat in it, while all the people stood on the shore.
3 Then he told them many things in parables, saying: “A farmer went out to sow his seed.
4 As he was scattering the seed, some fell along the path, and the birds came and ate it up.
5 Some fell on rocky places, where it did not have much soil. It sprang up quickly, because the soil was shallow.
6 But when the sun came up, the plants were scorched, and they withered because they had no root.
Matthew 13:1-6
As the service comes to a close and the week comes to an end Pastor Brian presents Pastor Pedro with a prayer shawl made by the Knit Pearl and Pray ladies of First Baptist Church Southern Pines. Pastor Pedro at this time ask the entire to team to come down to the front of the church and allow the church family to say their good byes and thank you. This was humbling sight to observe as child after child, adult after adult came forward to hug each one of these young people and adults from First Baptist Church of Sothern Pines.
One last comment before I close out this blog. The last twenty four hours starting Saturday evening until Sunday evening we do not have power. We did not hear not one time a complaint from any of them. We all made the best of this situation and this experience helped us appreciate what we have on a regular basis. God is good all the time and all the time God is good.
We love our young people from FBCSP!!!
