Senor Rene and Family Get a Home

As I shared earlier I lost all my first days pictures which included the praying over the first block and all the sand which was sifted by the entire team.  Thank you Tammy, Becky, Cassie, Tyler, Marie, Kayla and Eddie for all your hard work in helping make Senor Renee and his family a dream come true in a mansion.  Please picture in your mind how when Mike and I left the first day from the medical clinic and went over to help the construction team get their day started we arrived upon all the women sifting the sand and putting it into wheel barrows for Eddie and Tyler to take to O'Nil to start the mescal.  I have never been more proud of a group of people who had not ever done this before and was on their own for about thirty minutes but yet God showed them where and what they needed to do to help the Honduran men start this house into a home.  Mike and I did not worry about them anymore.  As the mescal was prepared and the cornerstones placed the first block was about ready to go down.  Wilman the translator gathered the family and Mike shared with them how we would like for them to lay their hands on the first block as Eddie prayed over it.  After the prayer everyone scattered and started making this foundation into a home.  Wilman had not ever helped build a home before so I caught him one time helping sift the sand.  Wilman's gift is sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ.  So on the first morning of this project while everyone was busy at work, Wilman asked Mike could he share the gospel with the family.  Mike said, "Of course, this is why we are here.  The home is only our tool to present the gospel to whoever needs to hear it."  Well this is all Wilman needed to here.  During the construction activities Wilman led Santos Mandarina the wife and the mother of her family and  daughter, Rene to the Lord. Senor Rene was already a believer.  So not only was there a home going up there were angels in Heaven celebrating two new sisters in Christ. What a huge God moment the very first day of their construction project.  The team worked steadily the next three days until the day of completion and dedication.
Along with building a home this team built relationships with the family.  They indulged themselves into the culture.  Team member Marie kept saying I wish I knew how to speak Spanish.  Because I love to talk to people and get to know them.  One day Marie was sitting on the bed in the make shift home they lived in while waiting to get their mansion with either Brenda or Carmen Alicie or both and all they were doing was laughing together and hand language.  But Marie shared this would be a moment she would always remember. Kayla asked on the first night with me what could she ask the family on their first day.  Kayla was very conscious of how culturally we are all very different.  I shared the most important question you could ask them is "Do they know Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior?"  Kayla gave me her beautiful smile and thanked me for listening and sharing with her.  I caught a glimpse of Tammy on the last day in the kitchen sharing with Santos Mandarina about the homemade chicken soup they were cooking up for the home dedication.  Everyone seemed to notice there was not as many chickens running around on the last day.
