The last day is always bitter sweet with a construction team. The North Americans spend five days with a family working hard together to fulfill God's calling to build a home where a family will be safe and dry year round. This week this team did just that. They worked hard all week together but on the last day they added some special touches to the home while the roof was going up. Tammy, Marie and Kayla cleaned both doors on the home. Senor Rene had his oldest daughter cleaning off the joints to get rid of the excess. She also cleaned the window sills on both windows of her new home. I am just speculating but this young lady named Alicia learned a lot of work ethics from her new friends as I am sure our North American family did as well. Tammy and Maria said several times this week they were more blessed than the Hondurans. How simple and beautifully they live and how we as North Americans could learn so much on less is better. How content they were with their life and how full of joy they were. I myself sometimes would only hope to have the true joy these beautiful people have on a daily basis.
I sat back and watched Mike and Pastor Carlos put up the roof in forty five minutes. Kayla kept up with how long this task took them and all their helpers on the ground. Because without the committed team members this task could have taken longer. Mike would holler "listo" and off they all came with the tin in hand and gently placing it up into Mike's bare hand. Maria or Tammy one said I was always worried we would cut your bare hand Mr. Mike and he said it is because you listened and sent up ever so gently. Team work was what these seven people were all about. They worked hard as a team and Pastor Carlos was so proud to have served beside them. I asked them on the last day did Pastor Carlos ever have to say to you all, "No problem". They said not that they remember. Well I shared with them this was a huge compliment for all seven of you. Job well done good and faithful servants.
