I would like to introduce Fernando and Tio (Uncle). Fernando is a twenty two year old who three years ago was so close to being a member of a Honduran gang. Pastor Carlos took him under his wing and has mentored this young man into an amazing godly gentleman. Fernando has helped his community for three years building homes and volunteering at the church when there was a medical team. Pastor Carlos shared with us how he had to earn the respect back from the community he once stole from to supply the needs of the gang he was associated with . Last year he came to Mike and I asking if we could look at his home. Later on that year Mike and I met him and went to another community to see his home. All this time we thought he lived near the church because he was always there helping. He lives about three miles down the road from the church. I always felt for Fernando and thought how hard it was for Fernando to be in Cedeno where he did alot of his gang activity. So Mike and I show up to his home and all we saw was a flourishing flower garden and nestled around the flower garden was a make shift home out of palm leaves, black plastic and whatever else he found to make this house a home. We get out of the truck and walk up to meet Tio. Fernando's uncle lives with him and gets all the credit for this beautiful flower garden. Until the team arrived we did not know Tio actually had a name, Moses. Moses gives us a big hugs as we share with him and Fernando they are receiving a home. So welcome to a week of a little piece of Heaven.
