Justin's Meals and Sleep Time

As I observed Justin throughout his stay with us I knew he slept every night in a hammock he purchased his first day here in the gift shop of Mt. Horeb.  I really did not think too much about it.  I even joked about how long Justin was going to last sleeping in a hammock.  Well he proved me very wrong.  He slept his entire stay on Mt. Horeb, four weeks all but two nights when he stayed with Mr. Mike.  This is not all Justin did while living here for a month.  Justin decided coming in he wanted to truly live out the culture which explains the hammock.  Most of our Honduran brothers and sisters and friends sleep nightly in a hammock.  This is why Justin chose to sleep in a hammock.  He wanted to fully feel the culture and live it out while here.  As you can see there is a huge bowl of lizard soup in one picture and tremendous amount of food, hot dog, beans, etc on another plate. The beans rice and tortillas on another plate.  The entire time Justin lived here he ate small portions of food.  Under half what he would normally eat.  We take the teams to a Pupusa Restaurant on Sunday after worship for some Honduran cuisine.  Everyone would place their of some type of plate, chicken, a typical plate, but not Justin.  Justin ordered one pupusa and a soda.  That is all he would eat.  He wanted to experience what about 62 percent of the people get a day, which is one meal.  Justin wanted to feel and live out how so many here live on a daily basis.  What we can learn from our young people. Justin quoted something Mr. Mike says quiet often, "Hondurans eat to live and North Americans live to eat."  Justin took that to heart while he stayed with us those four weeks.

Jesus answered, "It is written: 'Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.'"
Matthew 4:4
