Mike, Pastor Carlos and Mark climbed up to do the roof for Mariel, Emeraldo,Kevin and Alexander's new home. Team members Ray, Caleb and Christian along with their friends from Honduras passed the metal up to the gentlemen, The roof went up quickly and precisely with not a hole to be found. The three men worked very well together all week and ended it on a good note the last day.
While the roof was going up the rest of the team spent their morning cleaning up the two new metal doors with water and a rag. Christina took a rock with a sharp edge to knock out some of the mortar which had been splashed on the doors while the floor went down. Judy worked on the inside while Christina worked on the outside. Caroline, Maya, Paige, Kara and Cathy worked around the edge of the house cleaning up all the debris and rock for the family. They worked very hard as if this was their home they were building instead of their new friends.
We got there on the last day Elma, team member who spoke Spanish read to me what the door step said, "God bless our home for now and forever". As you can tell this team completed the task God had called them here to do, build a home but they built so much more this week. They grew spiritually in the Lord, they saw what true joy was all about and they learned to love unconditionally by the children in this community. They also learned from the men who served beside them this week. What it was like to help a neighbor or church member in need. They learned how to work in very warm situations with a lot of noise all week from the trees, they had some new found friends, who actually are some type of birds in Honduras who sing all day and who I called it weeping from the trees. Others called it something very different. All in all this teams first time to Honduras was an amazing experience because they allowed God to be apart of their experience.
for it is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill his good purpose.
