Because this was actually a community project we decided to visit a church the team at worked at a while back. Pastor Pedro and church family welcomed the team with open arms as if they knew the entire group. Today we were able to call Dan by the proper name of Pastor Dan and Pastor Pedro had several things in common, the love of the Lord and their flock and they talk really fast. I asked Media was she ready for this task ahead of her. She had to translate for two fast talkers. She said,"Si Mrs. Ginger." We opened the service by welcoming everyone from the children to the adults. We sang several Honduran hymns, "I Have a Good Friend", "Alabado" and many more. Ginger read from Psalm 23:1-3 in English for the North Americans. Karen read the passage in Spanish for her church family. The church slowly filled up while we were singing. They asked the North Americans to come forward for their specials. Yes these gentlemen praised the Lord with four beautiful contemporary hymns relating to all age groups. The first one was, "This is the Day", second, "Alabado", "Jesus Loves the Children" and "Take My Life". The first two were done in Spanish while the second were song in English.
Pastor Dan proceeded to go to the pulpit to preach from God's Holy Word. He preached out of Revelations 3:7-8. He shared about the church in Philadelphia and how they were a lot like that church. They were welcoming to us as most of us were strangers coming into this church family today. You welcomed us with hand shakes and hugs as if you had known us your entire life. The Church of Philadelphia was a church of love, just as your church is a church of love.
God is a Holy God who comes to change us to be like Him. He is true. He is faithful. He is covenant. If you call on the name of the Lord you will be saved. The key to the life of David was he was very rich but his pockets were empty. He was rich in the Lord. But our God is faithful of all our needs according to his Son, Jesus Christ. We need to allow God to open the doors of our lives to see the love of God through all things. God will make a way for us if we only allow HIM to do so. It is not our will but His will for our lives. What doors are open for you today? Sometimes doors seemed closed. But God can open the doors for us. Sometimes I as well as you all have no strength but we can do all things through Christ who strengthens us.. God will put strength in us when we are obedient to His calling. Life may be hard sometimes but we do not need to deny HIM. One day we will all be in Heaven together speaking one language. We are one in Christ and their will not be a language barrier in Heaven. Thank you so much for having us here to worship with you all today. We love you!!
"To the angel of the church in Philadelphia write: These are the words of him who is holy and true, who holds the key of David. What he opens no one can shut, and what he shuts no one can open.
I know your deeds. See, I have placed before you an open door that no one can shut. I know that you have little strength, yet you have kept my word and have not denied my name.
