The Honduran Culture

Each week teams come down from an entirely different culture as is here in Honduras.  For the most part the teams adjust fairly well to the hot climates and long dirt roads with a few bumps here and there.  You never hear complaints but simply words of contentment and joy.  Bob and Derek enjoyed their time in El Carrizo with the beauty of Honduran culture all around them.  This family raises pigs to sell to help with bringing in the income needed for their family.  During this week the team saw the mama pig get hauled off to market, I suppose this could be how the family took care of those extra needs this week, the cokes and hot meals served out daily this past week.  The day Mike and I went out to help with the gables I asked Alexia was the rooster hers and the hens, she chuckled and said no.  They just come to visit daily looking for food to eat.  They cooked those delicious hot meals in an adobe house with very little air ventilation.  They all had chores to do daily to help maintain the family flow.  One of the sisters did the cooking, one sister did the laundry, the little ones took care of the pigs and one or two of them were always going down the road to the pulperia on the bike to get something they needed for lunch or whatever need they had.  There was always someone taking care of a child.  There is so much to get done on a daily basis in El Carrizo but somehow it all gets completed.
