Once again a family gathering on the front porch of the Sunday School Classrooms. This was not any normal luncheon. This was a very special luncheon the Honduran prepare for their special guests. This meal may not be sacrificial in some eyes but this was one very sacrificial meal. The ladies gathered four chickens and wrung their necks, plucked the feathers off of each one and cut them up to go into a huge black pot. Meida shared how there was only potatoes and green bananas in the soup when I asking for mine. Those two items was all they had at the beginning of the morning when the prep work began. During the morning the ladies of the kitchen were blessed for the vegetable truck to come through selling other vegetables to go into the pot of the soup. Now lets stop a minute and think about what I just said, they had the chickens out of the yard, they only had potatoes and green bananas and guess what they would have been fine with just those items to feed their special guests. They are always content with what they have and grateful for what they have as well. God just blessed them extra special on this day when the vegetable truck came through town. They purchased cabbage, cilantro, a squash and some yuka to make the soup complete. When Meida served me I ask her about the yuka and this is when I found out they were cooking what they had and God blessed them with a few more vegetables for their celebration luncheon. They served the team on a white linen tablecloth and gave them real bowls and spoons to eat from. I can only imagine how many ladies gave up their soup bowls and spoons for this very special occasion. What a joyful time once again sharing food, fellowship and family together on this last day together.
