Fourteen Baptized

Pilla was cleaned and ready.  The members of the church brought chairs for everyone to sit under the huge shade tree God provided.  Pastor Jose registered all fourteen of the people young and old alike to get baptized.  He was so precious how he asked the little girls their full names ever so gently.  Pastor Jose has such compassion and genuineness for his flock.  They all love him and his family so much.  Because he has invested time and energy into his church family. Pastor Matty and Joel proceeded with the ceremony of baptismal.  He started by opening up with prayer.  Pastor Matty pulled one of the young men forward and used him  as an example of the process will unfold in the pilla.  Pastor Matty was very explicit with his details and was most helpful  and careful as he explained to these people who he has only known a very short time.  He had also earned their trust this week through VBS or as simple as an extended home visit with one of these to make sure they truly understood what they were fixing to do was the most important decision of their life and the most important public knowledge, being baptized.  We all started out under the tree but after the first couple of baptismal the crowd progressed out in the heat to watch and get as close as they could for all thirteen baptismals.  One special baptismal took place today Pastor Jose got to baptize his own son.  Pastor Matty afterwards told Pastor Jose how his first baptismal was his son and this is a memory he would always treasure.  Actually as I am typing these words of description of this moment words cannot touch the beauty of this afternoon in the backyard of Vida Eterna Baptist Church.  This church family will always look at this pilla a little differently.  Thank you God for Pastor Matty and his love for YOU first Father and how he worked out YOUR plans for him this week to be one of humble honor to be a part of in San Jose de las Conchas community.  As it could not get any better Pastor Jose asked everyone to gather in the sanctuary for one more special event.
