What A Blessing We Received

Derek presented the Chief with his first roll of toilet paper.  The police starting rolling in there one by one checking out their new facility.  They stood in front of the mirrors looking at themselves.  Please note these guys have not got a mirror unless it is one on the vehicles parked out in the parking lot.  They have not had running water ever.  So this was all so new and exciting to them all.  Tears rolled down my cheeks then and now as I reflect back on this moment of once again we were being blessed and reminded how truly blessed we are.  If we have running water and a place to lay our head at night we have no reason to complain about anything in life at all.  God is so good we just need to look around and see how truly good God is to us.  Derek shared one evening how the people here find true joy in what they have, we in turn need to find that true JOY which only comes from Jesus Christ.  It is not anything we can touch or feel but a personal relationship with Jesus Christ is how to have true JOY and PEACE in our lives.  This day I saw true JOY and PEACE in my life with the running of a faucet with hands washing them for the first time, with a simple mirror to see if their hair was in place or being able to have privacy while going to the bathroom.  Really folks reading this you have not anything to complain about and whine about because God gives us all more than we deserve.
After they all came out and headed back to the warehouse where they bunk on top of each other I stopped them all and said in my broken Spanish gentlemen you better keep this bathroom clean and Mami Ginger will be coming checking on how clean you are keeping them and if not I will pow pow all of you!!!  They all laughed and said yes Mami Ginger.  I simply love serving my Lord in Honduras.  It does not get any better than this people.  So today if you are complaining about your life please reflect on what God has done for you and thank HIM for shelter, food, running clean water and really this is all we need to survive.  Anything else is an extra perk.
