Buidling Relationships and a Home

This was the first time for a lot of these young people, so Pastor Carlos gave a Block 101 lesson on how to lay the blocks properly.  The team listened carefully to make sure their task would be done to completion correctly.  These young people learned quickly what was to be expected of them and how to work together as a team.  They paired up which help make the process easier for them at first.  As the morning progressed the walls were rising.

They continued the work throughout the first and four more days.  By the afternoon of the fourth day this house was becoming a home.  Job well done our family of young people from Southern Pines First Baptist Church.  We are so proud of each of you.

While the house was be built the team was also busy building relationships.  Above is Katy, Peyton and Lauren learning how to make tortillas by thirteen year old Yanellis.  She was so determined these young ladies was going to learn how to do this.  Yanellis worked hard and patiently with each of them and they did make a few tasty tortillas.

Barry made a friend named Anthony along with most of his teammates.  Chris reached out to Kevin who does not know Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior.  The team spent the afternoons playing with the children and making the salvation bracelet as Meida did an awesome job explaining the meaning of each color on the beads.  They played softball and threw Frisbees.  Our young people got to relax and be kids for the first time in a while.  I enjoyed on the last day watching them chasing,  laughing and tickling the children for hours on end.  Youthfulness is a beautiful sight when you use it to serve the Lord.

The ultimate was the jump rope party.  Everyone got involved with this activity.  Please take not of the adults involved.   I hope Pastor Bryan and Mike have finally recovered from too much fun jumping rope.  They all jumped rope for more than an hour.  This all was going on while the roof and floor was going up and down.  This was a blessing to take every minute God gave them to build a home and relationships.  While they were jumping rope more mescal was being mixed and then they would go put the mescal down on the floor.  They balanced out their work and play beautifully this week.

Rachel's devotional was on "Qualities of Jesus".  This week the young people learn their brothers and sisters have the qualities of Jesus.  They were patient with us in everything we did.  Their famous phrase was, "No problem".  Yaneillas was patient cooking the tortillas with the girls and Pastor Carlos worked patiently beside us and helped us when we made a mistake shared Katy.  Chris reached out to Kevin the one lost sheep from Rachel's story.  They all saw Jesus at work in all they did this week, work and play, Jesus was always there.
