Our New Sister

All week Yenifer worked hard helping her grandfather and grandmother get a new home, their first real home.  She worked diligently without a lot of interaction with the team.  A smile now and again and she would speak if she was spoken to.  She was determined to help miss that mortar and haul those buckets of mortar to the mortar pans as they were needed.  But on Monday of that week the tables turned.  Yenifer went over to Meida to sit and chat.  They talked for thirty minutes about her life.  Meida shared later with me her life had been hard and she did not know her mother for many years because she left her and her siblings behind with a drunkard father.  But one day she somehow found her family which included Sr. Domingo and Marie.  Today she is happily married and has a son.  She loves her grandparents very much and is happy they are receiving a home.  But during this conversation Sandy walked up and joined them I believe is how this all unfolded to a beautiful story and happy ending.  Sandy started talking to Yenifer not knowing what the intense conversation between Meida and her was about. She simply knew Yenifer was a little disturbed, rightly so, a very challenging childhood into adult hood.  As they continued talking Sandy asked her about her life as a follower of Jesus.  She was honest with Sandy and said she went to church once in a while but was not a believer in Jesus Christ.  She shared she knew there was a God and Jesus but had never accepted this sweetest gift of all.  Well that day under those trees on the corner of a walk board Yenifer accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior.  Praise to God in the Heavens.  The sweet part of this story is now she can read her Bible to her grandfather who cannot read or see to read if he could read.  He can share Jesus with her as she reads to him.  What a beautiful ending to a shaky beginning.  God can take anything broken and made it whole again.  As we dedicated the home and Pastor Larry read the scripture, Yenifer was looking up the scripture and following along as he read.   We as Christians are we still so hungry for God's Word as Yenifer a new believer is today?  Please never loose the desire and hungry for God's Word in your life each and every day.
