Work continued as Jose taught the young men of Tapitoca how to mix mescal. This was one of our many opportunities of the week. Praise God these boys learned quickly and Jose was a great teacher. Also he taught the North American gentlemen the same trade. Julie got in there and sifted her sand just like she did last year. Julie enjoys this job and this week she helped Jose out a lot by wanting to do this task. Everyone worked had on keeping the mescal going with the awesome helped of all who touched a shovel.
Mike gave a quick lesson on how to lay blocks and fill in the joints. Once this lesson was taught the team was ready to build Virgilia's home. The walls started going up block by block. By the end of the first day with working in the rain the five courses were complete. Pastor Brian shared during devotions that evening I wonder what kind of first impression we gave these people as we continued to work out in the rain. We are hard workers for Christ. Hopefully they saw our determination to get God's work done even when the weather did not permit us to do so. The young man who was their neighbor watched from his front door as they North Americans kept on keeping on until the fifth course was complete.
perseverance, character; and character, hope.
