Mike taught them how to lay block and off they went. Everyone found a spot they called theirs and went to work. Our new friends learned quickly and blocks and mescal starting going up. There seemed to be a lot of need for rock, so Charity went about the property collecting rocks to fill in the holes around the blocks. They may have started late but this did not discourage our friends from Longview Baptist Church. It was beautiful seeing them working together for Jesus. They found partners and the walls started becoming a home.
As the morning progressed so did the walls. As we got there earlier that day and saw the huge hill to climb to get to the project and later finding out they had to unload 800 blocks up that hill, laying these blocks on each other was a much easier task. Everyone pulled their weight and they were able to complete their five course on day one even after such an exciting morning.
At the bottom of the hill Rick was learning how to use the block saw. After a while he became a pro at this new job. Later in the morning Rick had some friends come down the hill to assist him in what was ahead for him. Thank you Addison, Bette and Rick's wife, Lisa for coming down to Rick's rescue. I shared with Rick these ladies job is to bring you the blocks and remove them once you cut them. All you need to do is cut. He just gives me a huge smile and says thank you ma'am.
Charity and Danielle's devotion the first evening was on patience and faith. The team definitely exhibited these biblical traits on their first day in Honduras. They gave all of some bible verse to apply to our week concerning these two traits. This devotional was our first night not knowing what the next day was going to unfold for them. They were grounded in God's word the night before ready for the opportunity awaiting them at their project site.
