The first day began with seeing 45 patients which was awesome. The dentists got busy seeing patient after patient meeting physical needs after physical needs. On the first day there was several opportunities which arose. We got there to find out two of our three translators were a no show. Later that day Meida found out one of the translators ended up in the hospital with respiratory issues. Meida quickly found one more young man, Andres, who lives in Pavana who has helped us in the past on short notice. He runs a cattle business but he shared he would love to help us since we are there to help his people and his community. Compressors stopped cold but not because it got cold, it got overheated. Elizabeth had to adjust a little to her normal way of cleaning teeth but she came through like a champion. She learned very quickly her expectations were set to high and once she readjusted she was fine and ready to continue with the cleaning of many folks teeth. Elizabeth shared she knew some of these folks had not ever had teeth cleaning before so she adjusted there as well and did her best for them. This was better than not anything at all. Thank you Elizabeth for giving God your all.
Andres came over on the second day to share with the team how grateful the community was for them coming to provide them with this gift of dentistry. He shared they cannot speak for themselves because they do not speak your language so they asked Andres to say thank you for them. There was some folks who had come four hours to see a dentist. One man sat all day waiting to see a dentist. The bus comes through Pavana from the mountains once in the morning around six and comes back through to go back up the mountains around five. The team saw several folks from the dental clinic get on the bus at five to head home. So they not only saw folks from Pavana but surrounding areas. This team took care of whoever came through those church doors as long as their was daylight to spare. They worked daily from 8 to 5 or 5:30. We did encourage them to take one hour for lunch and to remove themselves from the church area. This helped them to relax and regroup for the afternoon. ahead. The second day they were able to see 52 patients and the third day they saw 53 patients. We shared with the pastor they would try to see 50 a day and that is what they did. On the third day Ms. Alice led two people to the Lord along with Jim helping her with a young man named Gorge. Gorge's entire family were Christians. But Gorge had a drinking problem and did not want to give it up. Once Jim was able to share his testimony to Gorge and Ms. Alice shared the plan of salvation Gorge became a believer and received his first bible.
A young lady named Angelica also came to Christ while getting her teeth clean. Elizabeth and Ms. Alice managed to balance cleaning and salvation all at one station. This was the soul purpose of this dental clinic to bring the lost to Jesus Christ. Angels are dancing in Heaven today because of our brother and sister in Christ. Praise God for people's willingness to share the love of Jesus with others.
