This week Diane was blessed to learn how to cook Honduran style and make tortillas as well. Ms. Martha is one gentle spirit who I believe we all learned a lot from this week. She took time out of her businesses of life to teach Diane her secrets to her delicious meals. Diane was able to enjoy sopa de res on one of her lunch breaks. What a blessing for Ms. Martha to give back to the team in such a special way because the team is providing her son a home and this is her way of giving back to them. How humbling it is to receive from Ms. Martha her very best and it was so delicious as well. We can learn so much from our Honduran brothers and sisters in how grateful and giving they are with what they have. Chris asked me a question one morning over breakfast about their lifestyle and how they are content with what they have and he saw the joy in them with their lives more so than us as North Americans. So basically Chris' question was answered by Chris. We may be building a home for Isaac, Vilma and Marcos and this is truly not a sacrifice for us as when Ms. Martha gave a bowl of soup to Diane as a huge thank you for helping her son get a home. What a blessing Ms. Martha was to Diane this week as are all the Hondurans. We come to bless them but we leave more blessed by far. Simply by letting them bless us with their best.
On the last morning of the project Diane got blessed one more time with the final touches of making tortillas with Ingrid. Diane shared Ingrid finished up what Ms. Martha started in the class of making tortillas. Diane and Ingrid made enough so everyone could have them for breakfast with their potatoes and eggs. What a yummy finish to some amazing breakfast this week.
Amen y amen.
