Soon after arriving to their first mission trip as a married couple I realized why this was their first mission trip together. They have only been married since November. They decided together to join Mike and team to come down and serve their Lord together. What a beautiful way to start out your marriage, going on an international mission trip together. God led them to the most beautiful community in Honduras called Nacaome. God led them to a family there where they were able to pray with the cousin of Luis and Cindy our homeowners. Tyler asked the lady how could they pray for her knowing she was not a Christian and she burst out crying. Tyler and Natalie were so afraid they had offended the lady but the lady had tears of worry running down her cheeks. Tears of fear for her son and her granddaughter who had left four days prior to join the caravan going up to the states. She had not heard anything from them so Tyler with the help of Meida prayed with this lady and reached out to her each day while building the home for Luis. This lady had one son out of nine children who was a Christian and he can each day to help the team build his uncle a home. His name was Erlin and he shared with Tyler and Natalie how difficult it was to be the only Christian in your family. They encouraged him to continue in his faith walk and pray for his family to come to know Jesus Christ. They also shared how it is most difficult to share the gospel with family than anyone else. But with lots of prayers God will lead just the right person to his mother and siblings so they will receive the perfect gift of salvation. One evening they shared a devotion "The Mustard Seed" out of Matthew 13. How back home we need to invite people into our homes like the Hondurans did for us. They opened their homes to complete strangers from another country. We can learn from our Honduran friends what true hospitality really is about. God showed Tyler and Natalie how He could do so much more with so little resources. We have so much but yet we as North Americans do so little for others back home. If only we would plant one little seed by inviting someone into our home for a meal or to simply visit we do not know what God can do with that gesture. Natalie shared at the end of her devotional how she feels led to be more bold in planting the seeds and keeping the weeds (all the stuff and excuses we have for not doing this) out of the area where the seed is planted. Tyler shared how he was overwhelmed with their hospitality throughout his stay in Honduras. We appreciated hearing from a young couple just getting started out in their journey with Christ at the very center of their marriage. We are glad you came to Honduras as your first mission trip.
