As everyone gathered together to wait for Flora and Evangeline to arrive, excited and expectations of this new baby was the chattering of the North Americans. They were ready to see her, hold her and just be near this little angel only two days old. She was born on Monday morning at 5:00 am and was at her new home dedication on Wednesday morning at 9:30. Flora slowly climbed the hill while the pastor's wife, Ana, carried Evangeline. Jose gathered a plastic chair for his Aunt Flora and his new cousin. Jose loves taking care of his family. But he has learned from the best. Of course nurse Debby was all over the mother and baby's well being. Flora's father came and bent over to look at his granddaughter as if for the first time. I actually asked him was this is first time seeing Evangeline. He said oh no but isn't she beautiful. He was in awe of this new life God put into his daughter's life. What a precious moment this was to see such love and compassion come out of an older gentleman. The love for family was definitely evident all throughout the week.
Derek started with the dedication ceremony, Pastor Amado opened the service with prayers. Derek shared out of 1 Corinthians 3:10-14 for his scripture reference. Jesus Christ is the foundation of the home. After the scripture reading he opened it up for sharing from others. Flora spoke right up and thanked the team for this awesome gift of their new home. Bob from the team thanked everyone for their generosity and gracious love for the team. Dolly shared as well her gratitude for all the love was shown to them. Debby thanked Francesca for allowing her to cook with her this week and enjoyed all the meals they provided for her team. At this time Derek presented Flora with her family bible.
Flora stayed in her plastic chair as the dedication continued. The team, family and friends gathered around the home placing a hand upon the concrete blocks as Dolly brought the prayer of dedication for the new home. After the prayer Derek continued and completed the home dedication service by doing such aa special addition by bringing all the Honduran workers and lined them up in front of Flora and Evangeline. Derek shared how this house could not have become a home without these young men. Derek asked them to line up from Derek to Flora and Evangeline. Derek handed the key to the young man next to him. Each young man took the key and passed it to the next young man until the key got into Flora's hands. This was my God moment that day. Derek included everyone in this dedication service in a very special way. This was an amazing dedication service shared by all of us.
"By the grace God has given me I laid the foundation as a wise builder and someone else is building on it. But each one such build with care. For no one can lay any foundation other than the one already laid which is Jesus Christ. If anyone builds on this foundation using gold, silver, costly stones, wood, hay or straw their work will be shown for what it is, because the day will bring it to light. It will be revealed with fire and the fire will test the quality of each person's work. if what has been build survives, the builder will receive a reward."
