Each day we crossed the street in front of Naun's existing home to his grandmother's front yard. She allowed us under your gigantic mango trees to have our VBS. Meida gathered the children under one of the trees to sing songs while waiting for the children to arrive. God blessed us this week with the first day of twenty beautiful children and by the last day there was around forty. Pastor Brian proceeded Meida in an amazing time of three different days of bibles stories. The first day was Noah and the Ark. Pastor Brian read the scripture but took it to another level for the children. He has a gift of sharing God's Word on a child's level. He then reenacted the story in a skit which included the children. He had children acting out the animals. One young man was the dove with a leaf hanging out of his mouth. What an amazing time in VBS Pastor Brian. The second day Pastor Brian did Jonah and the Whale. Pastor Brian had four children in a square to represent the belly of the whale and one child who was Jonah and got swallowed up by the big whale. Great animation for these young people to remember. The last day he presented the plan of Salvation for the children. This was something he did not feel led to act out. This was talking about the resurrection of Jesus and our eternal destiny.
Before the singing and after the bible story there was bubbles and more bubbles. Also Becky did face painting for those who were interested. She did hearts and crosses. Curiosity had many children gathering around Becky as she spoke to the children of what they wanted painted on their cheeks.
Of course one of the stations was soccer. Boy Sophia and Anna Kate had their challenge on the first day with those little ones. But as the week progressed the older boys came over and really gave them all a run for their money. They played hard and lots of fun with a blue ball which was not even a soccer ball. I think everyone won each and everyday because they were building relationships through the game of soccer. Over under some trees were Anna Kate, Sarah and Becky coloring pictures with some sweet ones as the soccer game was going on behind them. Sarah had one little one sitting in her lap who could not speak or hear a word you said. Sarah was loving her by the sense of touch. Sarah bounded with this little girl so sweetly. Also our little friend who is Naun's nephew did not like folks but he sure did like our bubbles. He was a sweet heart once he found out these different looking folks were okay and actually a lot of fun to be with.
