Mr. Mike and Mark

Seven years ago First Baptist Church brought a dental team to Honduras.  Actually it was Mike and my first year serving in Honduras.  We met a gentleman named Todd who invited us to his home to share about our ministry with his lovely family.  Todd and his wife Amy have two sons, Luke and Mark.  Well at the time Mark was only ten years old when we sat across the table from each other over dinner one evening.  Mike and I shared about what our dreams were for the ministry not knowing seven years later this little boy would come down to Honduras as a young man willing to serve the Lord.  There was several times during the week somehow Mr. Mike and Mark were found working side by side.  They were a very good team and neither were even aware of it.  On the last day Meida shared with me how Pastor Carlos asked if Mark could help with the roof.  The evening before during supper I asked Ray if he thought Mark might want to do the roof not knowing Pastor Carlos had already asked for him through Meida.  We asked Mark and he said of course.  All week Mark had a willing heart to serve just as his other team members.
Mark took his serving to another level during his devotion one evening.  He shared:

A song of ascents. Of Solomon. Unless the LORD builds the house, the builders labor in vain. Unless the LORD watches over the city, the guards stand watch in vain. In vain you rise early and stay up late, toiling for food to eat-- for he grants sleep to those he loves.  Psalm 127:1-2. He shared without God our works are useless.

This is what the LORD says: "In the time of my favor I will answer you, and in the day of salvation I will help you; I will keep you and will make you to be a covenant for the people, to restore the land and to reassign its desolate inheritances, to say to the captives, 'Come out,' and to those in darkness, 'Be free!' "They will feed beside the roads and find pasture on every barren hill.
They will neither hunger nor thirst, nor will the desert heat or the sun beat down on them. He who has compassion on them will guide them and lead them beside springs of water. Isaiah 49:8-10.  This scripture revealed to Mark personally God was telling him to allow God to use us to come here to Honduras to serve Him and spread the gospel across all nations.  This is exactly what we all did.

Mark closed by sharing everything is HIS to start with this is even more reason to give HIM all praise and honor for all things. Interesting the above photo has a mouse from a computer.  This week Mark along side all his friends each night sat at the tables in the dining hall looking up scripture in their bibles without google.  Thank you God for a friendly reminder through this photo all we need is YOU.

  1. Mike and Ginger,
Mark had an awesome time in Honduras serving the Lord. The excitement in his voice telling us about the trip was incredible. Who knew (besides The Lord) that 7 years later Mark would be serving The Lord side by side with you. What a blessing!!! Thanks for all that you are doing for His Kingdom not only for the people of Honduras but also for the many servant groups that come down. God is using you to impact so many lives for His glory!
