Beginnings of a Bridge

As Pastor Santiago and Mike promised the team arrived on June 11th to assist in building El Limonal a much needed bridge.  For many years they crossed the swelling river during the rainy season on a log about one foot and a half in diameter and about twenty feet long.  During the week the team saw many of the people of the community cross over this make shift bridge carrying bicycles on their shoulders, their children, and may other heavy items across their only means of getting from one side to the other.  The people who lived on the far side of the bridge used this log to get across to bet to church, to school and to go to work.
The team came excited and especially grateful for the outpour of the community.  Pastor Carlos worked with the community prior to the teams arrival getting the foundation ready for team. Quickly the North Americans learned what the meaning of community truly is by the lives of their new found friends.  Everyone came together and found where they were needed and the work began.

For just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function,
so in Christ we, though many, form one body, and each member belongs to all the others.
We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us. If your gift is prophesying, then prophesy in accordance with your faith;
if it is serving, then serve; if it is teaching, then teach;
if it is to encourage, then give encouragement; if it is giving, then give generously; if it is to lead, do it diligently; if it is to show mercy, do it cheerfully.
Roams 12: 4-8
