As the days passed the 800 blocks became a home. The days were hot and the team endured each day because our Lord gave them their strength. They worked side by side with the Hondurans daily to complete the job God called each of them to do. This team was ordained by God long before they knew they would be here. This is beautiful to know how God works in all situations. Each team has five days to get the job done. But there is more than laying blocks in those five days. The team watched as Pedro took extra pains in perfecting each and every joint on his new home. Pedro took pride in his gift from God. He was grateful for what he was receiving. The team observed what an amazing father, Pedro was to his two girls. He fed Sophia her lunch one day and then gently placed her in the hammock for her afternoon nap. Same life as us just a different language. While Pedro worked on the home, Suyapa worked in her kitchen preparing lunch for the Honduran workers. On the last day Pedro and Suyapa sacrificed one of their own chickens and made a big pot of chicken soup for their gratitude to the team and a means of celebrating their new home. We always come to bless the Hondurans and we leave more blessed than when we came. God is truly blessing the North Carolina Baptist Men's ministry in Honduras. We see more North Americans lives change once they come to live with the Hondurans for eight days. The Hondurans teach us so much about what it means to truly sacrifice and serve God.
The Widow's Mite
"As Jesus looked up, he saw the rich putting their gifts into the temple treasury. He also saw a poor widow put in two very small copper coins. Truly I tell you, he said, 'This poor widow has put in more than all the others. All these people gave their gifts out of their wealth, but she out of her poverty put in all she had to live on.'"
