Daily Devotions

We not only had a nightly devotion but a morning devotion as well.  Each young person prepared a devotion and thoughts for all of us to reflect on.  This was my week long God moment as well as Karen's seeing these young people bringing God's message to their peers.  I am not talking a short piece of scripture but some in depth conversation and parallel to their week here in Honduras.

First morning Payton shared Mark 2:1-12 our sins are forgiven.  We can walk freely in our faith in Jesus Christ this week as we walk beside Jesus.
Rachel shared how God will use our gifts if we only allow HIM to.  Our God is bigger than we give HIM credit for, let God lead your life and use your gifts this week.  She shared scripture from John 6, Jesus fed the 5,000.  If God can multiply food to feed 15,000 people after women and children He can help us to what we have been called to do here in Honduras.
Marissa shared a Psalm of encouragement, Psalm 8  A psalm of David. LORD, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth! You have set your glory in the heavens.  She read the whole book to us and it was much needed as we continue our week,  thank you for a praise to the Lord Marissa as she challenged to praise the Lord for being here and being able to serve HIM.
Chris shared John 14:6-7 "I am the Way, the Truth and the Life".  We need to come closer to God while we are here.  Chris shared how he needed to utilize this week to draw closer in his relationship with Jesus Christ.
Lauren shared Proverbs 3:5-6.  Lauren shared her airport testimony where she truly thought she was not coming to Honduras.  But as she shared during her devotion we need to trust the Lord our God with all our hearts.  What a grand lesson Lauren learned before leaving the country.  God told Lauren I have this just trust in Me.
Sam read another passage out of Psalm 1:1-3

Andrew shared John 15:13 Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one's life for one's friends. As we came here this week we did not know these people and now they have become our friends.  They would probably lay down their lives for us as we in turn should do for them and others as Delete repeated word
Caleb shared about the Great Commission and how we should not only come here to share the gospel where it is easy because this is why we are here but we should be doing this at home as well.  Get out of our comfort zones and spread the good news of Jesus Christ to all nations.  Honduras is our nation this week but our homes, schools and work are also our nations.
Ana and Taylor shared the scripture coming out of Matthew 6 about worrying, God will provide all our needs.  Just like the birds in the sky God provides our needs.  That evening the power went out and we were without power for almost 24 hours.  We all learned quickly what our true basic needs were.  This group of young people never once complained about this slight inconvenient.  The next morning I was on my front porch simply because it was much cooler than the inside of my home.  I was reading God's Word when I looked up and saw a flock of birds flying over.  I thought of Ana and Taylor's devotion from the evening prior.  God always keeps us focused if we only allow HIM to do so.
Sunday morning before departing for church Kendell did Proverbs 3:5-6 again.  Obviously God wanted us to hear this one more time.  The power was still off and God was saying "Trust in me with all your heart".  So this we did we trusted HE would provide all our needs.
