Prepping for the First Block

Some of the team was unloading the materials again after the first prayers.  Cristobal was repairing some of the materials from numerous usages.  The make shift home will soon be torn down where Juan, Ava and Marlon can move into their new home.  They tore down there existing home and built a make shift home to hold them until God could provide them their new home which Chatham County Community Church so graciously came down to help them build.

There cement was kept up the hill in someone's home where it could stay dry.  Marlon and his friend made numerous trips all week hauling the cement to mix the mortar.  Mike asked the team to move the blocks needed for special cutting.  So the team created an assembly line to get the blocks where they need to go to be prepared for the day ahead.  Everyone was pitching in to get what needed to be done to be the first block laid.

Todd learned a new way to place a cornerstone and his excitement as Pastor Carlos used the plumb line was my God moment the first night.  Pastor Carlos was discussing with Pastor Raul, Ava's pastor about the plans ahead for this week.  Diane and Jan cleaned the foundation and got the mescal boards ready for the mescal to go in place. The family took pride in helping built their home as Todd shared that evening.  He said it drove him to want to do this and serve along side of a family who was willing to help build their home.  God is faithful in all things and Todd saw this in the family who wanted their home.  The family was forever grateful for this opportunity to receive a new home where they will not get wet again.

Pastor Raul could not stay all day because he is a working pastor.  He worked hard for his church family until he had to go to work.  Bryan was learning what needed to be done by the leadership of Pastor Carlos.  Bryan can understand enough English to communicate well with Pastor Carlos.  I shared with Bryan Pastor Carlos is an amazing and patient teacher.  Bryan was well taken care this first day on the job site.  Mike spent time sharing about the doors on the project with Diane and Todd.  This was new for all of us. This was a new team in a brand new community but it all came together because God was in charge.
