Families Serving Together

Sophia a return young person to Honduras was very blessed to bring her mother Jackie this year with her.  They cooked breakfast daily together bright and early at 4:45 am.  They worked in the medical clinic together.  They were simply together at any given moment serving their Lord.  Jackie fell a couple of weeks prior to coming so Sophie was ever so attentive to her mother's physical needs especially walking on the rocky terrane of Honduras.  They always carried a beautiful smile no matter what their situations.  At the medical clinic they worked side by side sitting and moving the patients from one spot to another.  They were very sweet to watch together as mother and daughter.  You two ladies caused me to miss my girls so much and was grateful to God to see how much you care and love one another.

We would like to welcome to new members to the New Hope Baptist Young People's team, Pastor Randy and his daughter Avery.  Pastor Randy came because Avery did not want to come alone not knowing many people on the team.  Logan had befriended her but the rest of the young people were all new to her.  Well, that problem only lasted a few hours because as we were traveling down to Mount Horeb from the airport Avery and Sophie carried on a complete conversation for the two hour ride down there.  It warmed my heart how well received Avery was by the young people of New Hope Baptist Church.  Avery and her father worked side by side in the medical clinic checking in the patients on a daily basis.  In the afternoon after their duty was done with the medical clinic they moved out to the church yard to help with VBS, which Avery shared was her favorite part of her week.  This was Avery's first time out of the country I believe and you would never have known it by the way she presented herself and cared and loved for the Honduran people.  She has a compassion for others and it was exhibited in Honduras.  I enjoyed her sitting with me at breakfast and dinner each day so I could get to know her better.  Thank you Randy for coming along beside such a special young lady. I know you are proud of her in every way.

Ron has been coming to Honduras for many years. He started out with the youth group many years ago and said enough of this. So he started an adult team which he led for many years.  But his precious granddaughter Logan had been waiting for probably eight years to be able to come to Honduras.  So when Logan turned sixteen Ron was able to bring her to Honduras.  These two worked separately all week but when you united at lunch or at the end of the day and see Logan go right up to him and check on "Granddaddy" and hugged him warmed my heart.  The two of these will cry at the drop of a hat which in turned causes me to cry as well.  They both love Honduras so much.  This year for the very first time Ron got to see the stars looking down on Mount Horeb.  With excitement in his voice he shouted for Logan to please come and enjoy the stars with him.  This was also another special moment between grandfather and granddaughter.  They both know Spanish fluently well Logan for sure, Ron is still in the process of learning Spanish fluently.  Logan taught herself songs to sing in Spanish for worship services while she is here serving her Lord.  Their passion for the Honduran people is definitely contagious and humbling for us all. Thank you two for bringing us joy to Honduras.

Welcome back our father and son team, John Scott and Christian.  I saw a huge turn around in their time together this year compared to years in the past.  Christian showed so much more passion for the people but more so for his father.  They were always together on the construction project working and enjoying the culture as well.  John Scott was able to eat the chicken and rice one day for lunch and he wanted to make sure Christian was able to have some for himself. These two young men worked well together this year and it was beautiful to see how their week unfolded.  Christian took the initative to do whatever needed to be done on the job site or on Mount Horeb.  He had a willing spirit which he learned from his dad but also with his growth as a believer in Jesus Christ.  As your life continues on this journey with Jesus Christ at the center of it Christian I cannot wait to see how God will use your life.  Thank you two for loving and continue coming to this beautiful place called Honduras.
