Women's Bible Conference

As we planned to start at 8:30 North American time we did actually have about six ladies sitting ready to go but not the thirty we were told was coming.  So at 8:45 Meida made the decision to start singing hymns hoping the others of the village would join us for the Women's Conference.  Sure enough they all slowly starting coming in even our little Rocio came with Bessy.  Children were not allowed but this was huge acceptation to all the rules. There was one lady who brought her baby because it was just that a beautiful sweet little big brown eye Honduran baby. As the morning progressed we ended up with twenty seven ladies present to learn about God's Word in the life of being a woman.  Meida introduced Karen and Karen shared why she was there.  As women we are very busy and do not do a lot for ourselves.  We are always doing for others.  Karen shared today we are going to dive into God's Word and learn how to apply into our daily lives.

After Karen shared about herself and what they were going to do Meida introduced the rest of the ladies helping Karen with the conference.  Karen gave each lady a bag with 30 index cards in them.  Each card had bible verse on them,  but there was a lot of blank ones for them to put their favorite bible verses as well.  The North American ladies also put theirs in there.  They were encouraged to read one each day. The first verse we are going to read is Psalm 139:13-14, We are fearfully and wonderfully made.  Karen then shared how we are created in the image of God.  But do we look alike, no we do not, different skin color and definitely a different language.  But we are all still God's creation.  Karen then read Galatians 3:26.  We are only God's children through His Son Jesus Christ through our faith in Him. The ladies all made sure every lady got a hand mirror. Karen told them to look in the mirror what do you see?  A creation of God, a beautiful creation of God.  Karen then read Ephesians 2:10 "For we are God's handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do."  So as you look in your mirror today, God knew we would be together right here at this time and place.  God gave us all work to do today together.  We are going to study His Word through this Women's Conference.  Karen read from Deuteronomy 7.

She led then into 1 Corinthians 12:12,27 where they discussed there are different bodies with different parts.  But we and all our parts are important in the kingdom work.  At this time we focused on the hands as part of the many body parts.  The North Amerian ladies gave out a tube of hand lotion as Karen was aksing the ladies how do you use your hands.  Some said I cook daily for my family, one lady said I wash clothes on the pilla daily, some said I write using my hands and there was other ways they shared they used their hands.  Karen shared whatever we do we need to do it to glorify God, Colossians 3:23.  Also as you are massaging one another it feels good to be still.  Well as hard as it is for us women to be still we need to take time to be still and be in the presence of God as she read Mark 6:31.  As women, mothers, grandmothers we worry, well once we give our requests to God we need to let it go and give it to God.  Philippians 4:6-7.  This is so hard for us to do as women.  But ladies God has it if we only let it go and let him have it. There is a saying "We can worry and pray at the same time". Ladies we all need to remove ourselves from our busyness and be in the presence of our Lord and Savior, Be Still.

Karen then brought out a scarf for each lady.  But before giving them their scarves Karen ask if they knew of different ways we could wear this scarf.  Well as you can see in the picture above the ladies had quiet a few different ways of using this scarf.  As Karen led into the scripture for this particular activity it was found in Ephesians 6:10 "The Armor of God".  Use this scarf to protect you from the sun or to keep you warm if you get cool, lol.  The breastplate of righteousness needs to be close to our bodies to protect us.  The bar of soap represents the cleansing of our souls each and every day. Out of Joshua 1:9 Moses was talking to Joshua and told him not to be scared.  God is always with you.

Finally the ladies gave their sisters in Christ a bag to carry their items home in.  But Karen said take this bag and use it to share the gospel with those who do not know our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.  Let this bag be a tool of sharing the gospel with others.  If someone ask where did you get the new bag you can then share about today and how we are all created in God's image and we need to be still and be in His most Holy Presence and know Him by reading His Word daily.

Really all Karen truly used in the Women's Conference was God's Word.  It was Spirit filled with Words of Wisdom all coming out of the Word of God.  My words cannot share how amazing this conference was for all these ladies.  Karen shared how intently they were listening and eager to learn along with all of them.  It was beautiful to see ladies from two different cultures share in God's Word as they did this beautiful breezy Saturday morning.  Thank you ladies for a job well done.
