Differnt Level of Devotional Time

Mark led an amazing night of devotional our second night together as a family on Mt. Horeb.  He shared the story of the Wedding Feast. He shared  how people would take a seat of honor.  But when Jesus walked in He moved them to a lower position.  It is best if we start ourselves out as less in hopes to be put in a honorable seat. There is a sword method Floyd's Creek uses to study God's Word.  Mark used this with this scripture reference out of Luke 14:;7-11.  If you hold a sword toward Heaven what does it tell us about this story?  Some folks said Jesus loves the humble, some says we need to stay humble so we can be exalted one day, discipline ourselves and Jesus wants us to learn.
If the man was holding the sword what about man in this story? We are prideful, we exalt ourselves, it is all about me and we have to be in control of everything.  Next question was you are holding the sword on the left and the right what are the sins to avoid in this scripture? We need to watch out for our pride and selfish thinking.  The last question what examples from this scripture can we follow in our lives?  We will be exalted if we simply humble ourselves and put others above us. We need to go to the lower seat in hopes of being exalted before our Lord one day.  Examples we all want the best bunk in the North American Dorms, we want to be first in line for dinner, and we want the best seat on the bus.  Ouch do we all fall into these categories.  I am sure there is so many more examples we could list but there is simply not enough time.  AMEN!!!
But Mark then took his devotional to another level of humbleness.  He shared how Pastor Robert washed each of their feet at the commissioning service.  But not any one washed his feet.  So Mark placed a tub of water at Pastor Robert's feet with some soap and a towel.  Each team member came forward and prayed over their pastor.  This was a simple act of humbleness.  But then Mark took it another step further.  He placed the tub of water in front of Mike and I as Mark washed Mike's feet and Katy washed my feet.  Each team member said a prayer over us.  This was of course my God moment for the day.  Mike and I were humbled by this gesture of servanthood.  It was a huge blessing for both of us.
Also to top off each night of devotional or even before devotions Todd led the group in Christian hymns on the porch of the North American Dorm.  Todd definitely has the gift for music and led his team very well.  He came very well prepared with copies of the songs for each team to have as they practiced for worship service on Sunday morning.  This team came prepared to sing in Spanish  the entire hymn.  Thank you Todd for taking the time and effort to share your gifts and talents with all of us.  Actually one of Todd's God moments was my God moment on the third day.  Todd shared as he carried one of the heaviest boards we have from the project to the truck, it took all he had to do this task.  This task to him back to when Jesus was carrying HIS CROSS through town.  Todd shared how far Jesus carried the cross in reference to his short journey to the Kia.  He thought as he carried the board to the Kia what all Jesus did for each of us more than we could ever imagine. His suffering is so much more than we could ever imagine.  His true compassion for us as all He wants is us to receive HIM and live our lives for Him.  It did so much for all of us who believe.  For those reading this today and do not believe there is no better love than the love of Jesus Christ for those who believe.  Thank you Jesus for dying for a sinner such as me.
