Our Sweet Family

We got attached quickly to these folks up in Las Uvas.  The home of Marie, which is Hilsi's home place as well was an open door for whoever wanted to come in and take a load off.  She was busy at work in her kitchen each day along with Wendy who was helping prepare the meals.  But she was always ready to stop and chat if need be.  All she had was time.  The children came in from school there daily as if it was there home.  I would say three of the many children who came through Marie's home were not living there much less relatives.  Her home was a home full of love and hospitality.  Hili's main job was to keep the children content while Marie and Wendy cooked.  There was always something going on all day long.  The little man sitting in Hilsi's lap got at least three baths a day for some reason or another.  He went down with a bottle in the back room in a hammock each day for about a two hour nap.  The two eight year old girls have been best friends for their entire lives.  One of those little girls lived quiet away down the mountain.  So she left school each day to come to Marie's eat lunch there and play with her best friend.  This home was truly a home filled with lots and lots of love.  I sat back this week and watched how it was shared with so many others as folks came and went all week.  Then on top of it the North Americans were here as well.  Marie said on the last day she was sad to see everyone leave.  She had truly enjoyed preparing the meals all week and seeing everyone being blessed by her opening up her home to them and of course them building Rudy a home.  She asked me a question one day about Rudy.  "Is Rudy a good employee?"  I looked at Marie, Rudy's future mother in law and said, "Yes ma'am. He is dedicated to his Lord first and then dedicated to the ministry of Mt. Horeb.  He goes beyond his call of duty.  You would be very proud of your future son in law."  I suppose she was concerned for the future of her baby girl Hilsi.  I reassured her she was getting the best of the best into her family which I hope she already knew this.   Just like all mothers worried about the future of her children.  This is one child she will never have to worry about.  Hilsi is also blessed to have such a special relationship with her mother and family.  I see this as very important because Rudy will be at work all week and will not be home with her nightly so she will have her family right next door to her and I bet when it rains she may just invite them over to her new home to stay dry with her.  This is how Honduran hospitality flows down here.  They take what they have and share it with others.
